The SLSC Cosmos Academy is designed for all young players that are interested in playing soccer at a higher level than Recreational soccer. The Academy will allow players in the U9 and U10 age groups to be exposed to practice and play with children of like ability. (Birth dates between: August 1st 2000 to July 31st 2002) This program will also help bridge the gap from recreational to competitive soccer. The Academy focuses on the development of each player while still developing an entire pool of players in these age groups. This is primarily done through focusing on technical skills, fast footwork, and overall ball mastery. Players are also introduced to things like speed and agility as well as proper warm-up and cool down techniques. The players will not only gain knowledge of the game in regards to positions and responsibilities, but also have opportunities to try new things and develop while gaining an understanding for the “big picture”. These players will be in an environment where stress is eliminated. Players will learn from mistakes and failure and learn lessons that can be carried off the field as well as on. Skill development will be a high priority while making sure players are having fun and developing a passion for this great sport. Our focus will be on long term development rather than tomorrow’s victories. Activities will be “age appropriate” which is critical in the developmental process. This opportunity will also allow players to be exposed to a very professional coaching staff who are licensed, have played the game, and can “paint the picture” by demonstrating good technique. This is very important. Young players learn best when they can see the proper execution of skills while they master them.
Training Sessions
Training sessions for all players will be conducted twice per week. All sessions will be held at the competitive practice complex on the days specified by the coaches for that particular age group. You will be notified of the practice days/times as soon as the information becomes available. During the winter months teams will typically train one day per week and play indoors.
Games
Teams will play 8v8 with Goalkeepers and will be formed based on the ability of the players. Players and their abilities change often in these age groups and players will be moved accordingly. These decisions are solely up to the coaching staff and are made at any time during the Academy year.
Teams will play in house with South Lakes Soccer Club and compete in some friendly matches with other clubs. Your game schedule will be made available as soon as it becomes available.
Season(s)
The Academy Year will begin at the on August 1st and end on May 31st. The Academy is based on a “Year Long” season and will last for ten months not including June and July. Teams will play approximately 8 games per season (16 per year) not including tournaments. Teams will also play indoor soccer and/or Futsal during the winter season.
Cost
SLSC Registration $65 Per Season (Fall/Spring) –August 1st /February 1st (Early Registration may be available)
Uniform fees- $50-(2 Academy Game Jerseys, 1 pair of game shorts, and 1 pair of socks)
Academy Training Fees- $50 per month
(8 months) (Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec, Feb, Mar, Apr) ($400 per year)
Field/Light Fee-$20 per player due November 15th (For the Year)
Goalkeeper Fee-$20 per player due September 15th (For the Year)
Tournament Fees-Approximately $30 (Minimum 1 tournament per season)
Indoor Soccer Fees-Approximately $40 (Depending on number of players)

Every effort will be made to place players in the Cosmos Academy that are interested. However, depending on the number of players interested teams may or may not form. Register as early as possible and attend all open sessions.
